Swiss School

Notes:

  • The problem of the world changing is not an economic nor political issue, its a moral issue.
  • SUMAS is the first university in Europe that is based solely on sustainability.
  • SUMAS is the only university in Europe that offers the Bachelor and Master's degree in physics and administration.
  • It is located in the South-Western area of Switzerland, and it is a very safe place to be in.
  • Industry is a great factor that affects the change of the world, and the environment.
  • Nowadays there are environmental friendly products that take less to construct, and use less energy when in use.
  • By the year of 2050 if the world doesn't change then the earth will need twice the earth's surface to store all of the waste that is being produced.
  • The Eco label on products throughout Europe shows that it provides sustainability to the environment, and is better than regular products.
  • Many industries are attempting to ecologically change.
  • Temperature on earth as been increasing recently in the year.
  • The temperature changes have all occurred within the last decade with 2005 being the hottest year for now.
  • If the Arctic would somehow go away and meltdown, the sea level would rise by 26 feet.
Sustainable consumption in the cities:

In order to apply sustainable consumption to this city of Bogota, Colombia; harsh measures will need to be taken. Even on the roads there are pieces of trash lying around everywhere, and the fact that so many people buy products without even caring about what it will lead to in their planet; it is quite disappointing.

Bogota can take the measures of having Eco labeled products just like in Europe to raise more awareness within the consumers so that they can know that they are doing good for the environment. The best way to catch the attention of these consumers is possibly having recycling bins on the streets for different categories so that it can be reused. In shops and big malls, there can be certain corners within the shop that has all the regular products but with the Eco label sign which allows them to know that buying that product will be beneficial to the earth. There are also many more ways that sustainable consumption can be achieved by not consuming unnecessary products such as soda, candy, etc. The taste might be just as good, but the amount of products that it takes to produce one bar of chocolate, a bottle of soda can truly make a change once it has been continued for at least some time. Or, the local production companies can attempt to use the least amount of energy that they can, and use less materials that take a lot of waste. Companies can make a big change in this topic of sustainable consumption, but the people who can change the most are the consumers that actually buy these products.

Maybe in order to have this sustainable consumption, it might take many years and quite some effort by the consumers to make a big change. The companies might not be willing to make such a big change in how they produce their products, but it does require some convincing. This convincing might take some time, and sacrifices by the company to truly acquire the essence of what it feels like to be an "Eco city." Less cars must be used since they need fuel to function which costs money, and harms the environment with the bad air being produced by the cars. Bikes do not produce any sort of carbon dioxide, and don't take as much materials or energy to produce compared to cars. They might not be the fastest way of transportation  and not the safest; thus they are a great choice that one can take to help the environment. If the people of this city are willing to sacrifice many products that are bad for the environment, the city can have a big change in just a matter of years.

Overall, in order to make this city a sustainable city it is all up to the people that live within it. The choices that need to be made to change the city is all dependent on its citizens since the mayor can't be the only one riding a bicycle and buying Eco friendly products. It might make a very small change, but the bigger the better. So, if these actions happen to take place it can change the city greatly. Long Live Bogota!

Paragraphs:

What are the biggest benefits of being online, for you, personally?
The biggest benefits of being online is simplifying things that are hard to do in real life. Sometimes when you don't understand something you can look it up on the internet for easy and simple answers. When you try to write an essay, it can be quite tiring for you when you write each letter word by word; but you can always type it on Microsoft Word quickly and get it printed just like writing. Also, when you want to talk to your friends you don't have to pick up your phone and call or meet them personally, but you can just open one of your social media apps and contact them. Overall, it is very much easier to do things online rather than doing it in the real life with hardship.\

What topic in the video did you most strongly identify with and why?
The topic that I most strongly identify with is the things that can happen in the real life to what has happened online. I haven't really done much online that has affected my real life personally. Thus the time when I was hacked on Facebook and it started adding friends that I didn't even know in real life, it was very awkward to see the people personally. I don't know who in the world would hack my account when I didn't really expose myself to the internet, and I was hacked it was kind of confusing. As a conclusion towards what I have seen today on the movie was that I should never expose or reveal myself as someone different and just be myself when I can. Also, to never bring up things online in the real life.

What advice do you have to parents about kids being online?
To all the parents out there who care about their kids being online, they should try to relax about it. There is only a small chance that your child might be exposed to stalkers or pedophiles in the internet, and unless they openly or purposely reveal themselves it won't happen. Once your child opens up a Facebook, YouTube, or any type of account in a socially interacting website, you should try to regulate their use of it so that they don't get addicted to what they do. If your kid does happen to spend all of his time on the internet everyday, it could possibly lead to him being influenced to create a fake person in order to fit along with other people, etc. So, if you want to have your kid not be exposed to the troubles in the internet, try to regulate his time spent on anything that happens on the web,

GAFE

How do you create a blog? Creating a blog isn't all that hard. You have to take a series of steps in order to get you started up and ready to go on your blog.

  1. Go to Blogger and log in to your G Mail account if you have one. If not you can apply to sign up for a Google account.
  2. Once you log in, there will be a website with several different topics. Next to the topic of "Create your blog now," there will be a "New Blog" button which you should click in order to officially get started on your blog.
  3. Once you click the button, you will be able to insert your blog name, the address you want your blog to be, and the different templates that will decorate your blog.
  4. When you are done personalizing the blog, you can hit "Create blog" in order to have your blog made.
  5. After a brief delay of time, the blog will be created and added on to the website where you can click on view blog, edit blog, or START POSTING.
  6. Finally, you will be able to create your blog by typing anything inside the box when "Create a new post is clicked on." You can edit your writing by making it bold, adding pictures, etc.
Tags, Labels, Inserting things?

Label are a very useful tool in making your posts easy to locate on your blog. Once you add a certain label and keep posting blogs with that label, on your main page there will be a list on the right sight which when you click on will show you all the posts you wrote under a certain label. For example if you create 10 blogs with the label of "Kevin," you can click on the title of "Kevin" on the right side of the blog and the 10 blogs you have written will show up.
Inserting objects on blogger isn't as hard as you would imagine; insert a link by selecting a certain word then clicking on the Link button which will allow you to add the link which it will bring it to. Inserting a photo, and video are also easy since all you have to do is have the picture and video on your computer then you have to select in so that you can have it on your blog. Last and not least, adding a jump-break is the easiest process with you having to click the button itself to finish it, which is easy.

How do you customize your blog?

In order to customize your blog, you need to click on the "Design" button which can be located on the top right corner of your main blog page. Once you do, it will take you to another page where page with all sorts of settings, and once you click customize it will allow you to select your blog template and edit your title and all sorts of things that will seem fun to you and play around with.

Oh NO! I published a blog but I want to change something!

If you want to edit something on a blog you just posted, go to your blog's main page. Once you have arrived you will see the post you just made, and below it there will be a small white box and a pencil on it. If you click the pencil it will take you to the blog creation page where you can edit anything you with to. When you are done with what you meant to do, you can click on the "Update" button in order to have the edited version of the blog post on your blogger website. The old version will no longer exist, so you don't have to worry about anything.

I'm scared someone will stalk me on blogger! Help!

Blogger isn't a place where you don't have a privacy setting. If you are truly paranoid that someone will come and stalk your personal life if you happen to have a blog about personal life; you can add certain people to read your blog via the "My Blogs" page and "Settings." You can make it find-able or non-find-able by clicking the Yes or No button under the button of "Let search engines find your blog?" Everything else concerning who can read your blog, and what your blog post website will want to be made can all be edited on that page of Settings under the Basic topic.

I want to review my decisions once more and edit my whole blog. How do I do it?

Editing everything about your blog won't be so hard because all you have to do is repeat the same steps as the steps above where you want to change your privacy settings. Under the Settings topic there will be many others which you can select from in order to customize everything that you want to be changes in your blog.
